Becky and Alex held their beautiful spring wedding at Barley Wood, an 18th century country house in rural Bristol. Set within 11 acres of landscaped gardens and woodland, it was the perfect venue for the relaxed, intimate celebration they wanted.
‘We had the whole house to ourselves for the weekend, and our friends and family stayed with us during this time. The venue was stunning […] We decided to hire a florist to decorate throughout the venue. Our colour theme was shades of blue, so they made sure to add a lot of blue flowers to the designs. We also added some personal details such as photos and board games we like for guests to play.’
Becky
Becky has been a client of mine for several years, so I know her and her hair very well! I always love spending time with my brides on the morning of their wedding, but it’s extra special when you know them personally. I’ve heard stories of Becky and Alex’s first date, watched them celebrate the big milestones of the relationship, and been there throughout all the stages of wedding planning. I feel so lucky to have shared this experience with them too.
The Hair
Becky wanted a low bun with a natural look. I prepped the hair using Colour Wow Xtra Large Bombshell Volumizer to create some volume. Style on Steroids was also a must for texture, heat protection and hold. With the right products onboard, I was able to create a soft, elegant, low twisted up-do.
‘At my trial, I described what I wanted and showed Amelia some inspiration pictures I’d found on Pinterest. She nailed the look at the trial and on the day. My hair stayed in place and looked great.’

The Makeup
Becky wasn’t too sure how she wanted her makeup, but she knew she wanted it to look natural and glowy. I focussed on achieving this while also emphasising her beautiful eyes.
Natural, glowing makeup needs a flawless base. Becky already has lovely skin, but I always advise my brides to really focus on their skincare routine in the final 6-8 weeks. Then, in the days leading up to the wedding, hydration is key, so I encourage them to drink at least 2L of water a day.
To make Becky’s eyes pop, I created a soft smoky look using my Morphe Palette, lining her eyes with dark brown and a tiny bit of black. Individual cluster lashes are always a good idea! Finally, on the lips we went for the classic Charlotte Tilbury Pillow Talk.
Kind Words
‘Amelia’s been doing my hair for years now. Before I met her, I found it hard to find a hairdresser who gets what I want, but Amelia always delivers. Every time she does my hair, I leave feeling amazing. She leaves my hair looking good and feeling healthy. I love the products she uses too. This year I got married and she did my hair, bridesmaids’ hair and mum’s hair. Amelia doesn’t just do hair though; she also does makeup – she’s a woman of many talents! She listened carefully to how I wanted my makeup and hair, so on the wedding morning I was so happy with how I looked. She also helped to keep me calm and relaxed, which I really needed!! I really recommend Amelia, she’s a fantastic hairdresser, MUA and a lovely lady!’
