Blogging has taken a bit of a backseat since Frankie’s arrival, but I can’t let another week go by without chatting about this year’s summer hair trends.
I love looking for inspiration and the designer catwalks are always a great place to start. There are some true artists creating incredible styles. It’s also interesting to see how these high-end looks eventually make their way into the ‘real world’. Anyway, here’s what I’m loving and looking forward to recreating in the coming months…
Long Braids
I LOVE a braid! Always have, always will. They’re perfect for summer when it’s either too hot to wear your hair down or too humid to risk the dreaded frizz. This season, braids are being worn long, low and super sleek.
Shine On
Whether hair is worn up or down, shine is back in a big way. On the catwalk, we saw an ultra-reflective finish on everything from precise ponytails to pretty ballerina buns. I guess now’s the time to invest in products that promise super glossy locks!
Cute Accessories
Hair accessories are everywhere right now! One of the easiest trends to recreate, you’re spoilt for choice on the high street. Clips, clasps, bows, headbands and hair scarves are everywhere, so get them in your hair and on you head!
Beachy Waves
It wouldn’t be summer without everybody’s favourite beachy waves making a comeback! This year, it’s all about natural movement instead of full-bodied twirls, so keep things effortlessly floaty and undone.
Rainbow Hues
Playful colour is proving popular this summer. Colourist Josh Wood gave models ‘vintage pastels’ at Marc Jacobs and there were mermaid waves dipped in pink and silver glitter at Giambattista Valli.
If you’re not brave enough for rainbow brights, don’t worry. My beloved balyage isn’t going anywhere. It’s still my favourite way to create a gorgeous sunkissed look.
You Do You
Trends are great and it’s always fun to daydream about elaborate editorial looks. When it comes to your own hair, there’s more to consider than simply what’s hot and what’s not. I’ll always be honest about what’s achievable and ensure you leave the salon with a look that suits both your hair and your lifestyle.
So, those are my favourite summer hair trends! If you want to know how to look after your locks now the weather is warming up, check out this old post.
