New Year, New… HAIR!
If you’re anything like me, you probably weren’t prepared for the new year to start.
I hadn’t organised every cupboard in the house like I’d planned, I spent New Year’s Day on a pub crawl {bye bye dry January}, I fell ill, lost my voice and then my beloved house bunny, Bumble, died. I spent the rest of the week in bed eating all the carbs I could manage, so the whole ‘new year, new me’ thing can do one.
Now that I’m feeling better, I can begin to focus my brain on my personal goals and the things I want to change this year. The gym thing hasn’t ever been a problem for me as I go regularly and enjoy it, but I really want to take better care of my skin. I’d like to get into a regular routine of cleansing, toning and moisturising, plus I NEVER moisturise my body which is terrible. The plan this year is to start using all those body butters I’ve been hoarding!
My question is, how many of you have decided to make your hair a priority in your plans for a healthy new year? It’s great that so many people focus on wellbeing and I know exactly where they’re coming from if they want to lose weight, but sometimes taking care of the little things like hair, skin and nails makes for some far more achievable goals.
Don’t panic, I’m not talking about drastic changes! Here are a few suggestions…
- Start to book in regular haircuts. If you can’t manage every 6 weeks, try every 12 weeks. It’s better than once a year!
- Give your hair a break from the straighteners. Try gently blow drying instead.
- Invest in some good products. It might be more expensive, yes, but better quality ingredients will be so much more beneficial for your locks.
- Buy a tangle teaser.
- Hair Masks. Buy them or make your own, but use one at least once a week.
- Treat yourself to an Olaplex Treatment.
- Experiment with some new styles. Mix it up and do something different from your usual ponytail.
Whatever you do, just promise me you won’t neglect your hair in 2017!
